Choosing your EARTH & ENVIRONMENT degree:EARTH & ENVIRONMENT encompasses all aspects involved in the study of the Earth, from processes in the Earth's interior which shape how our planet has evolved, to the landforms and soils and resources which affect our daily life and the use by humans of the Earth's environments. Earth Science units can be included in many science and engineering degrees. Choose from a large number of Earth Science majors, or if you wish, study a double Science major, a BA, or a “combined degree” as listed below. With a BSc degree, you decide your direction of study after completing relevant first year units. Even if you prefer another science major, doing first year Earth Science is valuable because it is a practical and integrated subject which includes aspects of other physical and biological sciences. Our laboratory sessions and field trips are enjoyable “hands-on” experiences and a great way to meet other students. Our School also includes all aspects of Geography, so as well as Geography majors within the BSc, Geography majors within Bachelor of Arts degrees are also possible. Human Geography is concerned mainly with the spatial organisation of human activity, including culture, society, politics, history and economics. It is also concerned with the way in which people interact with the natural environment. Human Geographers in particular play a role in urban and regional planning, economic development, politics and foreign affairs, social policy, and environmental management.
